Kuychuk message to Zaev: I hope the dialogue will continue with the new government in Bulgaria

The European Parliament Rapporteur for the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Ilhan Kuychuk, held a number of high-level meetings during his working visit to the Republic of Northern Macedonia. The focus of the talks between the two countries was the restoration of trust and good neighborly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria and the country’s European integration process.
“I strongly hope that the dialogue with the new Bulgarian Government will continue as soon as possible. Both sides are committed to joint efforts and finding a common language, because the current losers are the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia. Meanwhile, we should not stop promoting good examples, because they will be the basis for building good neighborly relations, said Ilhan Kuychuk in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Northern Macedonia, informs Zhurnal.
For his part, Zoran Zaev also joined in the idea that we should continue to support the cooperation built in the media, academia and business in recent months, as good examples bring our peoples closer and eliminate nationalist lines.
The ALDE party co-chair cited several examples that are evidence of successful joint initiatives between the two countries. Among them is the competition “Macedonia and Bulgaria – near and far”, which is held under the auspices of Ilhan Kuychuk and next year plans to include Bulgarian and Macedonian students. Another example of cooperation between the two countries is the agreement signed this year on the exchange of information between BTA and AIM. And in September, comes the meeting “Time for talk”, organized by BTA with the support of MEP Ilhan Kuychuk. The event will be held from 20 to 23 September in Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo, and will be attended by Oliver Varhei – EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Prime Minister of the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, prof. Vlado Buckovski – Special Representative of the Republic of Northern Macedonia for Bulgaria, His Excellency Tsar Simeon II and others.
During the visit, Kuychuk also met with Deputy Prime Minister Nikola Dimitrov, Foreign Minister Bujar Osmani, Minister of Health Venko Filipce, Minister of Local Self-Government Goran Milevski and DUI Chairman Ali Ahmeti.
