Kosovo Army helps Albania fight wildfires

Kosovo Security Force (KSF) sent its specialised units to Albania on Monday to help fight wildfires.
Following the decision of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, President Vjosa Osmani, in her capacity as the supreme commander, has signed the authorization for deploying of the KSF troops and equipment on a humanitarian operation and at the same time informed the Assembly of Kosovo regarding this action.
The KSF deployed in Albania last night three firefighting and rescue quads of the National Guard as well as a team of the Company for Civil Operations. The KSF is operating on controlling active wildfire zones above the Kalimash tunnel and in the village of Shenmeri east of Kukes.
Media in Albania re reporting that the fire in the Kalmish area has been put under control and the road linking Kosovo with the seaside in Albania is safe and passable. This was confirmed also by Albanian President Ilir Meta who thanked the Kosovo Security Force who made possible the road to be safe for all those who use it at the peak of the touristic season in Albania.
